To Our Residents, Family Members, and Responsible Parties:

We hope you are staying safe and healthy. As part of our goal to be transparent about how Covid-19 is affecting us here at San Tomas, we will continue to provide weekly cumulative updates on this webpage.
-
Staff members, vendors/contracted staff, and all visitors are screened for any Covid-related symptoms, fever, or possible exposure upon entry. Those who show symptoms or have had a high risk exposure in the last 14 days are instructed to go home until they meet Santa Clara County Public Health's recommendations regarding symptoms or exposure criteria.
-
Visitation must be arranged prior to the planned date of visit so we can ensure proper measures are taken to ensure the safety of our residents and staff. We are also offering "Facetime/Zoom" visits and other forms of virtual visits via iPads that we've provided for our residents and our Activities Department. As an alternative, we are coordinating "window" visits and outdoor visits scheduled in advance. Guidance may change depending on county transmission rates. We continue to encourage virtual or outdoor visits whenever possible as they continue to be the safest options. Please call for updates regarding visitation restrictions or to schedule a visit.
-
Update on the Covid-19 Vaccine: With the help of Walgreens and Santa Clara Public Health, we have been able to vaccinate a majority of our residents. 95% of our residents and 100% of our employees are fully vaccinated at this time.

Resident and Staff Status (updated 05/23/2022)

The following information is updated regularly as part of our goal to be transparent with our residents, families, and the rest of the community. We have a mitigation plan in place that has been guided by recommendations from Santa Clara Public Health, California Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We immediately "isolate" residents with suspected or confirmed Covid-19. Staff members who are found to be positive or have signs and symptoms of a respiratory illness are instructed to stay home until cleared by Public Health's "return-to-work" criteria.

-
There are currently zero (0) Covid-19 positive residents in our facility's dedicated Covid-19 unit. Residents that do test positive complete their isolation period in our Covid-19 unit and have their own dedicated nursing team who DO NOT enter the rest of the facility during their shift. This unit is blocked off for the safety of our other residents and staff.
-
There are currently zero (0) staff members who are unavailable to work because of a positive Covid-19 test. Positive staff members are not permitted to come back to work until they meet California Department of Health's "Return-to-Work" criteria.
